Happy Monday everyone!! Was it just me or was this kind of a weird weekend? In LA it seemed like the changing of seasons. We had this crazy heat wave last week but then both Saturday and Sunday we had hazy, cold mornings that led into sunny, but breezy afternoons. The lighting definitely screamed fall and it made me feel like I wasn't ready. It reminded me of going back to school but wanting to hold onto summer as long as I could! It led to a strange mood of missing college, friends, the Bay Area and wanting a change of my own. Coincidentally I had lunch with a friend from college and it was crazy that we hadn't seen each other since last September! She's had some amazing changes over the past couple months (she transferred with her job from D.C. to San Diego, scored an awesome raise, got an interview for TFA and a scholarship for a grad program!). I am so so happy for her and it was awesome to see her in person to share in the good news! It did make me wish, though, that I had more of a direction with what I want to do. She's so lucky that she knows what she wants and is going after it! I still feel like I have so many different interests and I don't know which one to pursue. I know I'll figure everything out..hopefully sooner rather than later though!

Can I just tell you all how excited I am to be wearing this beautiful necklace from Rachel's Elephantine jewelry line!? I've been a fan of her work since last year and it's such an honor to share with you this stunning piece. Rachel's handmade designs are beautiful, dainty and so unique! I love this necklace, the Akira, because of the four little diamond shapes hanging so perfectly from the chain. It's one of those pieces I can wear again and again {and I will, just you wait!}. Go check out her etsy and cartel shop...you will be blown away with loveliness!
Have a great day! And don't have a case of the Mondays!

I'm so excited about fall and glad you are already walking into it, Mara!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the LA weather this weekend compared to last...so perhaps it really will be cooler her for a fabulous fall! :)
Congrats to your friend too...sounds as though she is on a terrific track! I found it comforting to read hat you mentioned wishing you had more in yours because that is exactly what I was pondering this weekend...I have new wants and loves, but yet am not sure what to follow exactly, but I'm sure you will figure it out, just as I hopefully will! :)
Have a lovely week ahead and enjoy sporting that beautiful necklace! Thanks for sharing!
Liesl :)
Love your outfit - it's so fun! And I know how you feel in regards to life paths - I am still trying to find a new course myself and while it's unsettling and scary, I do know that the right one will come eventually for me and for you, my friend!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have an elephantine necklace too! I love it so much! Rachel is such a talent!
Mara, you are just so chic. I love how you pull off the clogs and socks and that adorable romper. And congratulations to your friend, dear! It sounds like she is one hard-working, driven girl.

LOVE those shoes something fierce, lady! I'm excited about fall attire--I mean, it's almost always fall attire appropriate in the Bay Area, but I'm excited to wear scarves and boots and cute jackets again.
ReplyDeleteI love how you mixed the military jacket with the floral romper and it's beyond weird that you had the same weekend weather wise at the other end of the world!!! :D

Wow, love your look! I'm feeling it too. The sun it out, but it is crisp out. I don't like it one bit.
ReplyDeleteWe're headed to SF this week. Any suggestions for food or activities?
I wish I could pull off a romper, but they don't work well with my body type. You look fab! Love that nail polish shade also.
ReplyDeleteI love your shoes!! :]
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, fall does feel like it's giving a sneak preview, even here on the east coast. I know it won't last for long though!
Gorgeous look. I love your shoes. That is a great necklace, too!
ReplyDeleteIt was feeling like fall here last week...now we're in a heat wave. It's supposed to be in the 90s all week.
Those shoes are amazing!
ReplyDeletewow that jewelry is gorgeous!!! love them all. and i know what you mean about finding direction. i just finished grad school and i still don't know that i want to stick with that career for very long. i want to be everything in life! :) but yes, i think eventually we'll figure it out, or maybe just enjoy each mini-career as they come.
ReplyDeleteand totally weird weather! but i loved it. it was finally cool enough for me to live here. :)
every fall i have the same sadness, I miss college (and the bay area, even though I've never actually lived there, but visited 4-5 times a year in college). I have yet to figure out what I want to go back to school for and get my masters in, so like you I am waiting for more direction. :) happy monday!

I'm sure you'll figure things out when the time is right.
ReplyDeleteAlso, we went from ridiculously hot to freezing cold last week here in the Bay Area. No bueno. :)

ReplyDeleteThat's one of my fave ways to wear my hair -- I usually use vintage scarfs... It's the quickest and easiest way to manage my hair, which always makes me laugh when someone compliments it... Looks super cute on you, too!

ReplyDelete~Cat
It's the Allie romper! Haha! Love the jacket so much! And I'm so glad you're giving yourself time and space to figure out what's really important rather than rush into jobs/grad school that won't make you happy. (You should live out my dream of opening an LA cupcakery!!!)
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel!! Except your just graduated! I've been out of college for 6 years now, I'm still not exactly sure which direction I want to go in. But no matter what you decide to do, you're super talented and will excel in anything...I'm sure of it!
