recipe: crack pie

September 25, 2010

I was dying to make this recipe from Momofuku Milk Bar in New York city when I saw the pastry chef Christina Tosi featured on Martha Stewart and then when I found the recipe in the September issue of Bon Appetit I knew it was meant to be! Crack Pie is Momofuku Milk Bar's version of Chess Pie {originally Just Pie}-- a simple dessert made with eggs, flour, sugar, and cream. This version had a yummy cookie oat crust and I loved the salty sweet taste! It's called Crack Pie because of how addicting it is. You seriously can't just have one bite!

So I'm sorry this post is a little late {it's currently after 1 am eek}. I've been so busy this week, as you can imagine, emailing and talking with family and friends. Also, some venues fill up a year in advance so I've been looking into those and making spreadsheets for Matthew to look over. I decided I'm going to try to limit my wedding talk to one day a week {probably Wednesdays..haha how original right?}. I just think it will be easier to have some sort of structure since I know some of you might not be interested at all. Personally, though, I've always loved looking at wedding pictures and reading about DIY/creative projects! We'll see how much of that I can even do! It will be great to share things with you all and get some advice!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

  7. Hey Mara, my friend of a friend Nadia just got engaged herself about a week ago and is already planning like crazy. I just wanted to give you her blog address because on her sidebar she has A TON of links to wedding blogs that are FAB-U-LOUS. Some of the most darling things I have ever seen. Not to mention, our friends that our going to be her photographers are the wedding are amazing as well and they could give you some great ideas too I think. Here is here link http://nadiashea.blogspot.com/
Wedding planning is fun and stressful, I had 3 months to plan mine, and every time I see adorable ideas I just wish I could plan it again and again. Have fun and remember all the fun small stuff.

  9. YES! I love wedding talk. it's crazy how venues and caterers and photographers get scooped up so fast! and I did the same thing for tyler. I did research, priced everything out, found out if they were even availible, how many people they can sit, etc. then compiled my favorite to show tyler then we made appointments at the ones we both liked!

the pie looks yummy too! next time you are in New York, a meet up is nessisary. or when I'm in LA!

  13. One more thing... when you visit venues ask them for a list of recommended vendors! They do weddings ALL the time so they know which DJ is cheesy, which florist is reliable etc. Troy and I looked over and saw which ones were recommended on a few lists and that helped us pare down who we met with!

  23. Love the recipes you find! I just listed a really great vegetarian recipe on my blog with tomatoes, breadcrumbs, and manchego cheese. It was soo delicious.

I would make crack pie and everything, but then I'd eat it, and probably quite a lot of it so I'll refrain and save myself some calories! lol
