look book: blue velvet

December 30, 2010

These blue velvet pants are so fun! I love wearing them because they're so unexpected. From far away they could look like jeans, but up close no siree! They also feel amazing so I'm constantly giving myself little rug burns haha
blouse and sweater Urban Outfitters, pants J. Crew, shoes Jessica Simpson, bracelets Forever 21

I finally scheduled an appointment to get my hair cut! If I tell you how long it's been, you have to promise not to judge. {Especially those of you who are hair stylists!} It's been... over 6 months! Not too bad I guess, but still pretty bad. My split ends have become so obvious and my hair doesn't feel as healthy as it probably should. I felt really good about getting it cut, until yesterday! This always happens to me, and perhaps to some of you too. I think us girls just get protective of our hair and hair change=big change, even if it's only 2 inches! Am I right or am I right? Unfortunately I'm not going to make any major changes, but I do have big plans for after the wedding!

P.S. I know I'm behind on Wedding Wednesday posts but I took a little break from planning over the holidays!
They'll be back soon!

  1. Is it bad that I can't remember the last time I got my hair cut? I think it might have been August but I really don't remember...

  3. the backdrop you chose for these photos is so perfect. and i'm jealous of how well you can pull off those cute floppy knit hats!
lol, don't worry, i'm not judging. it's amazing you've been able to not have to cut your hair for that long!!! around 10-12 weeks for me, the layers start to get overgrown. anddddd on the subject of hair, i guess i should tell you, i think i'm going to go short at my next appointment, which is in mid january!!!

  8. love the outfit! funny you mentioned your hair being in less-than-perfect shape, because i was going to comment on how gorgeous it looks in this post!! you have great hair, ma'am ;)

  9. Your hair looks great for not having it cut in 6 months! I used to be that way but have been better lately.. maybe going every 3-4 months? Still not great but it's progress!

  10. I LOVE this outfit! Love love love. One of my favorites I think. I'm totally the opposite; I get my hair cut way MORE than I'm supposed to (like seriously...every four weeks?) and then I get sad when it's not long and beautiful like yours. But when it DOES get long it just looks thin and unhealthy. Bah!

    happy new year, friend!!

  12. What a great way of spicing up a regular outfit...with some velvety blue pants. I love this look! As for my hair, I get it trimmed every six to eight weeks. Even then, when the time rolls around, I hate parting with the length!

  13. those blue velvet pants are so cute!! and i also love that sweater. it's so cold today, i could use a nice warm one like that. :)

  14. I love your hat, lady. Looks great with the looser-fitting sweater.

I know what you man about cutting your hair. I'm always reluctant to get that done :/

  16. I can go a year without getting my hair cut :O, & how old does it make me feel that i had blue velvet trousers many moons ago, I LOVED them!..i don't think they would be so forgiving nowadays, with the old hips a wee bit wider than then..:)

  17. love the way you cuffed your pants!

  18. i really like the unexpected texture of those pants--so many people are wearing velvet blazers (which i don't think i love much) but velvet pants are LOVELY, especially on you.
and you look ridiculously sweet in all these photos.

  19. you look so beautiful! and I know what you mean about the hair situation - my hair was nearly to my elbows and I cut it to above my collar bone! It floats now & my pony tails are like little girl ponytails....and now, my look is so different! but i'm sure whatever you decide you'll look beautiful....short hair or not! xo

  20. I get my hair cut like every six months also...that's how often my sister comes into town, so that's when I get it cut. I just got it trimmed this weekend. I adore those pants, I need me some blue velvet pants real bad.

  24. You take such beautiful photos! And I totally know what you mean about the hair cut thing... I always consider it a treat to indulge in a new cut/color and be pampered but then a tiny part of me sort of dreads the day because I second-guess myself.

  30. It was such a long time since my last hair cut that I chopped my split ends off myself. I actually liked the result a lot better than most of the hair cuts I got from previous hair stylists. Love your look!

    Eternally yours,

  36. I feel the same way about my hair! It's been over a year since I've cut my hair and even my split ends aren't enough for me to trust a hairstylist! They always cut off way too much. So I've been using Moroccan oil to keep it smooth!

And I hope you don't do too big of a change with your hair. I'm so jealous of your curls! :P

Man... I wish you could show me how to match my clothes to make a perfect outfit! I love your style! You're an inspiration! Keep it up, Girl!
