If you follow me on twitter you know the good news..I found my dress!!! I am super excited about this because I was cutting it a little close {cough major understatement}. Most places need at least 5 months to order the dress and then get alterations done. I really lucked out because I got a dress from a trunk show and the designer was there and decided to comp the rush fee. woo hoo! I've decided I'm not going to share my wedding dress with you yet. I think it will have to remain one of those surprises! {Also, the photos online don't do it justice at all!} I did decide to share some of my most favorite dresses. I loved each of these tremendously but they were also tremendously out of my budget! I just couldn't justify getting into debt over a dress I'd wear for less than 12 hours. The one I chose is very budget friendly though, which is absolutely perfect. Here are my dream favorites:

Rivini, Christos

Christos, Reem Acra

Monique Lhuillier
Sigh, so gorgeous. I'll be wearing each of these in my dreams.
Those engaged/married: How was your hunt for your wedding dress? Did you get "the one?"

how exciting! i cannot wait to see it.
ReplyDeletei've drooled over that very same Monique Lhuillier dress. but yes, way out of my price range.... but i'm gonig dress shopping (for the first time!) on thursday! HURRAH!
ReplyDeleteYay! So fun! I saw mine in a catalogue and knew it was "the one". I went to the store and told the lady and I tried that one on first, but then she MADE me try on 20 more....just to make sure. And I'm pretty sure I said "I still like the first one the best" when I was in each of the other dresses!
ReplyDeleteI know the dress you've picked will be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThese choices are all perfect, the lace is my fave :)
Hope the rest of the planning is going well!
I saw that on Twitter yesterday- hooray for finding your dress!

I can't wait to see what you choose, I know it will be lovely!
ReplyDeleteoh i love that reem acra one!! so so pretty. i knew i wanted something much more gardeny than fancy since we were having an outdoor wedding. i also really wanted to support a smaller designer and i didn't have much money at all, so i looked around at the big names on etsy - sarah seven, the english department, and amanda archer. i took a trip to portland and tried them all on, eventually falling in love with the way the sarah seven dress felt on me. it was perfect! i think whatever happens, you need to feel exactly how you want to feel in your dress, whether it's sexy, chic, classy, whimsical... just so long as you're comfortable.
ReplyDeletei'm so happy you found one you love!
Those dresses are gorgeous. Funny story about my dress. I woke up one morning to a call from my mom saying these exact words "Kasey I just bought your wedding dress on eBay for $9.99!!" I wasn't even engaged yet. But as sad as it was to not try on dresses, and as mad as I was at my mom for doing that, I ended up LOVING the dress after making a few alterations. And it was brand new, made to order. So honestly it was the best deal ever.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you for finding your dress. I bet it is nothing short of breathtaking.
Oh Mara, I am so happy that you found your dress and I can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteI found mine after trying on only a few others. I just knew it was the one I couldn't wait to surprise Dustin with.
Congratulations on finding your dress! I just recently bought mine also, can't wait to go to my first fitting in August! I tried on about 15-20 dress and decided on the one at the end. It was a perfect day together with my family and a perfect dress and I decided to go for it. xx

I had the worst time trying to find a wedding dress. I didn't like any of the ones I found in stores. Then my grandma called me up and told me to come over to her house because she had a surprise for me. When I got there, she pulled out my great-grandmother's wedding dress from 1915. It was beautiful and lacy and pretty much perfect. It was also about 4 sizes too small, but somehow my grandma worked her magic, and made it fit! It felt so special to be wearing my ancestor's dress on my wedding day.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your dream favorites! I came across some of those in my search as well. Congrats on getting your dress!I may have already told you---- I bought the first one I tried on and stayed below $1000, which was unexpected and awesome. I'm not feeling any regrets! The designer ones are oh-so-lovely, but agreed...I couldn't justify it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That is wonderful news and I look forward to seeing it soon.
ReplyDeleteThe other dresses are stunning!
YAY! I love the lace one with the open back! and I have my appointment on Feb 5th so I am very excited!
ReplyDeletei went in the store on a whim to look at dresses. i tried on about ten, but less than fifteen. i bought the first one i tried on! i noticed it on the mannequin. i had them check the size, and it was my size. i had them take it off, so i could try it on. that's the one that i got!
ReplyDeletecongrats on finding your dress! i am excited to see photos later. love love that last lace dress. so elegant and pretty! xoxo jcd
ReplyDeleteps now following you on twitter!

First off, congrats on finding THE dress. That is so very exciting. The Monique dress is my fav and I wanted so badly to go shop her line but she was a bit beyond my budget. I bought my dress in October it's from the Robert Bullock Collection and it's similar to the Monique dress, lace, beading, fitted silhouette. I had some custom alterations done and I cannot wait for my first fitting!! Congrats again, can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteYou have great style, so I know you'll get something just as amazing for your big day!
ReplyDeleteThe last dress is incredibly beautiful and so classy:) I love them all
ReplyDeleteKisses, my dear
Ps: I am hosting a natural cosmetics GIVEAWAY today! Hope you’ll join in :)
the last one is my fav. is kinda like my wedding dress. i fell IN LOVE with my dress and its made by a spanish designer named model novias. however, its like a $10,000 dress. so there is no way i could afford that. my amazing hubby googled it and searched and searched and found it on this website called peridress.com THE EXACT DRESS for like $180. they sell them out of china...i died. i had to do some alterations because our church requires a cetain degree of "modesty" to get married in our temples. but that was so easy and i loved it!
ReplyDeleteThat Monique Lhiullier one has been may favorite forever!
ReplyDeleteMy dress ended up being one of the first I tried on. It was suggestions of the lady at the wedding shop helping us, and we all wrinkled our noses at it on the hanger. But it ended up being the one. I love it and I get pictures taken in it all the time. Crazy I know ;)
These are absolutely STUNNING! I love the top right one. Can't wait to see your dress in May!

This is wonderful news, Mara. I didn't plan on having my own wedding dress as my mil and mom both wanted me to wear their wedding dresses (and I loved both of them). However, the husband insisted that I have a wedding dress of my own. Being so tiny and petite, it was very difficult to shop for a wedding dress. I was happy to find one that I like (two months prior to the wedding...obviously I wasn't in a hurry lol), and got it tailored to fit my body. Best of luck with the rest of the planning.
ReplyDeleteI adore that first dress! Gorgeous! I'm so excited that you found it, and at a trunk show? Even better, because then you get to meet the designer, holy cow, that's awesome.
ReplyDeletewonderful gowns! I bet you'll look so gorgeous in it! I often tease my bf that the only way he could get me to marry him is if he buys me a custom made Vivienne Westwood wedding gown :))so i guess i wont be getting married T.T
ReplyDeletecheck it off the list! can't wait to see what you end up wearing :)
ReplyDeleteSO exciting!!! I can't wait to see the dress that you have chosen :]
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finding your dress! Eeek! I cannot WAIT to see all the pictures can it be here yet?!
ReplyDeletethat last dress is beyond beautiful. i love the open back. cannot wait to see your dress! i imagine its gorgeous and i'm sure you look stunning in it. glad you finally found it!
ReplyDeleteahh all of those dresses are so dreamy! I'm sure you picked something beautiful. can't wait to see. btw, I linked you in my latest post... i don't like the "blogger award" concept of these things but I liked coming up with 7 random points... I'm sure your readers would to :)

I LOVE the last one its beautiful. The lace and the back OOh my goodness its gorgeous! :) I can't wait to see yours! xox
ReplyDeletei wanted to get married in color. think michelle williams' marigold vera wang from the oscars. but that proved impossible unless i wanted a cheap, tacky bcbg variety. so i went white!
ReplyDeletetried on about 10 dresses. bought the first one i tried on. called it a day!
i love fashion, but the dress simply wasn't something i ever dreamed about. i'm practical + while i wanted to feel beautiful, i wanted to only spend a little + not stress.
i ended up loving it.
so happy you found yours!
I can't wait to see it! The last dress looks a lot like my wedding dress! You have to love lace!

GORGEOUS.GORGEOUS.GORGEOUS.
ReplyDeletewe have very similar wedding dress tastes. and i felt the exact same way about spending thousands of dollars on a dress for a few hours.
i can't wait to see yours!
i absolutely got my dream dress.
ReplyDeleteit was my mama's. :) i just altered it a wee bit.
the last one is my fave -- so similar to what i want one day! they're all so gorgeous, i'm sure yours is positively lovely, as welL!
ReplyDeleteooooo!!!! I'm so excited for you! these dresses are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteif you can believe it, I had no idea what dress I wanted. I had an idea of what style would look good on my figure and I knew that I didn't want white white or strapless. she brought dresses into the room and I kept staring at one hanging there, thinking "I can't wait to try that one on". once I did. I went out to take a look and no one said a thing. My mom and grandma started crying and the moment i said that I liked it, my two best friends jumped in and wouldn't stop gushing about how it made me look!
well that's my story. I"ll probably tell it on my blog after the wedding.
I am really so excited for you! eek!

Congrats thats so exciting!! I'm sure it will be perfect on you! I've yet to find my dress.. still have 8 months or so but I'm getting nervous!
ReplyDeleteWow, they are all so pretty! You will be a beautiful bride! I found my dress really quickly but that was because I only had a 6 week engagement. Talk about a hurry!!
ReplyDeletethat last one is just amazing!! i cant wait to see yours.
ReplyDeletekellie
You are going to look so incredibly gorgeous in your dress, ahh!
ReplyDeleteAh, you'll look beautiful no matter what your dress is like Mara! Although, I'm sure it's absolutely beautiful. I love that last one, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYay! I bet it looks amazing on you. I had a Pronovias La Sposa from the NY sale but never gave up on the Monique Lhuiller dream and got one on ebay 3 weeks before the wedding (for a crazy price too). SO worth it!
ReplyDeletethat second christos and the last one are SO GORGEOUS!!!! you will be an unbelievably beautiful bride.
ReplyDeleteThey're all gorgeous but the last one has my attention.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great picks! I'm newly married and got my dress at Alfred Angelo on SUPER sale. It was from their line of the nicest dresses and was half off or half off and I LOVED it! Thankfully a close friend previously worked in dress alterations and did my alternations as a wedding gift.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the dress you chose! <3
congrats!!! it's the BEST feeling! i got mine over the weekend at the bridal expo and died. SO FUN!!!

ReplyDeletecongrats!! so exciting! I can't wait to see. I love your dream dresses... especially the first Rivini and the last Monique Lhuillier... but I know you are going to look just stunning in the dress you picked out! without a doubt!
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you found your dress!!!
ReplyDeleteyay for getting your dress!
ReplyDeletemine was the first one i tried. i tried on a ton of others on different days at different stores and kept coming back to that first one. the best part....it was just under $700 and it fit like it was made for me....no alterations at all!
can't wait to see you in your dress, whenever that may be. i know you're going to be beautiful!
I do love the 4th one! I don't think it would suit me though. I'm not going to look for a dress until next year. I reckon 10 months is enough time to fine 'the one' :)
ReplyDeleteoooo I heart heart heart the last one on the right. looks a bit like mine did.
ReplyDeletewww.timwill.com/patton
I snagged it for a steal because it was out of season!
I can't wait to see your dress!!!
mara--yay! it's such a sigh of relief when you find the one dress that you know...okay, this is the one that i'm going to wear when i marry my best friend in the whole world. :)
ReplyDeleteThe last one is stunning!!! Can't wait to see yours :)

I am so excited for you! I am sure you will gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dresses!!!!
ReplyDeleteFor me it was funny because I was dreaming of a dress of a certain style and took the drawing for the stylist...but then she invited me to see the dresses she had in the store and then...i found the one!!! PERFECT!!! I think I was the fastest bride in the world, because I chose it in exact 10 minutes! I wore it and it was for me!!!
xoxo
I love the Reem Acra dress! Congrats on finding your dress!!
ReplyDeleteThose dream dresses are truly goregous.
ReplyDeleteAs far as my wedding dress I did get "the one" but it wasn't overly expensive, it was only $1500. I tried on at least six dresses the day I finally found the dress that would be mine. The moment I tried it on I just KNEW. I love my wedding dress and sometimes I wish I could wear it every day even though I got married almost 2 years ago!
That is so exciting! Congrats! <3
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS picks! I'm head of heels for the first two!

mara! so excited to see your dress (post wedding of course!). i loved all your dream dresses. i tried on quite a few reem acra and loved them but ended up going with something more in my price range as well! i'm not revealing my dress til after the big day (june for me).
ReplyDeleteyou can read about my dress experience here: http://astrongaesthetic.blogspot.com/2010/11/success-dress.html
I didn't have a magical "the one" moment because I liked so many. I ended up with a Jenny Lee dress and loved it! It was fitted, strapless and had a tiny mermaid feel.
ReplyDeletexo Marcie
PS- I vote for a blog on your haircare system. It is amazing.
That Monique Lhuillier dress was my dream dress when I got married a few years ago. One of my good friends went to Kleinfeld's in New York to find her dress (her fiancee's great aunt is Mara, the owner) and picked out that dress ... out of all the dresses they carry. I was excited for her, but sad for myself. Ahhhh, dress envy!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the middle of a dress hunt myself, so torn between 2 very different dresses...what does yours look like?
ReplyDeleteThese dresses are all so beautiful! I love the last one. I'm engaged and am planning a wedding in a year and a half. I'm not sure when I should get my dress, but I'm hoping that when I try them on I still love the lace as much as I do right now!
