I thought hot pink and mustard would be a fun color combo to try! I love these high waisted shorts and tucking a sweater into it was perfect for a California winter day.

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother putting my "summer" clothes away. I always end up looking for them! And then around March/April each year I get really sad when I have to put away my winter clothes, and realize that I maybe wore them once, if that. I've fallen in love with so many cute coats recently but I know they're not practical. I'm thinking next winter Matthew and I should plan a snow trip! I've only been skiing once and I loved it! I was in high school and even though I wanted to be the cool kid snowboarding it just wasn't for me. Also I fell down..a lot. Skiing was a little easier and the bunny slopes were the best playground!

So funny, how different life can be! I just had to get my boyfriend to be late for work so he could drive me to work (I usually walk) because it's -29 today. Like, hurts to be outside cold. I have fleece tights layered under my pants! I would definitely trade you a weekend of skiing for a weekend of glorious sun & warmth!! Haha that said, you look completely adorable here Mara! Love this look!

ReplyDeleteI have a confession: I've lived in Utah for 8 years & I've been to a ski resort one time. And I didn't even ski or anything - I was there for a charity thing! It's even worse because we literally live at the base of the mountain & could leave our house & probably be skiing within 20 minutes. It just doesn't appeal to me at all! :o)

Love this combo. Those shorts are so fantastic! I've only been snowboarding once and have never been skiing, although I think I would be better at skiing since I was an ice skater. A snow trip sounds like so much fun! I always want to take one every year and never do.

Good to know! My bf is always trying to get me better at snowboarding, but it's a little terrifying. I'll try skiing next! I'm the same way. I wear so many summer pieces in the winter... it's just too easy here in CA. I'm crazy about those shorts and that statement ring! And the sailor striped purse is the best.

I started skiing when I was 13, and around 15 decided that I was too cool for school and needed to become a boarded. I think all 15-year-old girls have some switch that goes off that propels them to do whatever they can to break their fathers' hearts, and, for me, this meant hanging up my skis and insisting on a board.
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely less intuitive than skiing, but I stuck with it even after a broken arm. I got pretty good, even. A few years later, though, I realized that skiing is more my style, and now, I don't ever look back. Plus, I get to ski with my dad. :)
I love this look - I just found your blog and love it too. Your hair is amazing - I wish I could do this too, but I would need a few more arms :)
