photos from chicago

April 6, 2012

Last week I went to Chicago for the first time! While I was there for work, we were able to squeeze in some fun {and lots of eating!}. We joked that the whole trip revolved around food, from waking up at 5:30 Chicago time on the first day to make it to breakfast {when it still felt like 3:30 am}, to deep dish pizza at Gino's East for lunch, and Girl and the Goat for dinner! We ate at some amazing places and my stomach definitely stretched out a little bit! Walking around the city was fun too! I was so impressed with the cleanliness of the city. I swear I didn't see one piece of trash or cigarette butt on the streets. Chicago has their maintenance down, and LA could take some pointers! Also, the people were so friendly and sweet. I'm dying to go back with Matthew. Maybe we can squeeze in a weekend trip sometime this summer!

  7. Chicago is our favorite city to visit. I agree with you, it is so clean! And I am always impressed with their beautiful plants and flowers around the city. They do such a beautiful job of keeping everything clean and beautiful. I love the food and my daughters loves going to the original American Girl store. :) Glad you had a fun trip.

  15. I went to Chicago one time. I like it and I want to go back ... my favorite parts were the deep dish pizza, the Museum of Science and Industry, a concert in Grant Park, and ... the Lake. :D

Oh, and I saw my first mime. I was slightly startled at first, but then stood there and watched for 10-15 minutes, fascinated. :)

  39. I live in Chicago and attest to how fantastic it is! If you like to eat, and I think you do at least a little, it has a great foodie scene!
May I suggest Alinea the next time you come. Three aunts have gone and loved it! My husband made reservations for our anniversary! Yay Chicago :o)

  40. So glad you love our beautiful city! It really is the best. You should come back in the summer if you can and visit Grant Park and the Fountain, the flowers are beautiful. Art Institute is my favorite place too. Food is what we Chicagoans live for! Try Chinatown or Taylor Street or Greektown next time for amazing ethnic food.
