I remember shopping at J.Crew in high school when everyone I knew was either obsessed with Abercrombie & Fitch or Hot Topic. My mom and I would go to the mall and pick out some pieces to share. She'd buy and I'd borrow! To say I've always been incredibly inspired by J.Crew is an understatement. My love for the brand has grown over the years though, mainly due to their perfectly effortless outfits. I notice that it sometimes affects the styling I do for work, and also here on the blog. This outfit in particular felt especially J.Crew-esque. The checkered button up + the long maxi skirt + the ballerina flats + the somewhat styled, yet slightly rolled out of bed, ponytail were maybe a few indicators.

button up J.Crew, skirt Ruche {similar}, bag c/o Brahmin, shoes Crossroads Trading {similar}, necklace J.Crew, bracelet c/o Karen London and Banana Republic, sunglasses Oliver Peoples borrowed from Matthew
I'm sure you all noticed that there's a new layout around here! I've been wanting something a little more clean and fresh for M Loves M so I had to go to my friend Kelly Ann for some help. She designed my last layout for me which launched in January 2011 so it was about time to switch things up. Every time we work together I am so impressed by how well she knows me and my style. I trusted her completely, and with reason, because look at this amazingness she came up with?! It's still a little bit of a work in progress on my end but I'd love to know what you guys think!

Mara!! I love this look and yes, it's very J.Crew-esque... You could totally be one of their models. ;) I also love the new layout. Kudos to your friend, Kelly Ann! Can she design a new layout for me? heehehehe. :)

The new layout is just perfect. Love the fresh, clean look and the lovely floral print. I'm even more in love with this outfit! I've turned into such a J.Crew girl in the past few years. I've always liked pieces, but lately I find that I want to walk right out of every catalogue with the models!
ReplyDeleteThat gingham shirt and moss skirt are so great together. I have a shirt like it and this has definitely inspired me to wear it with new colors!

I really like the new lay-out, it's more "grown-up" but still captures your style. (And I love J. Crew, of course).
ReplyDeleteLove the new header! And seriously, I was obsessed with J Crew in junior high. OBSESSED! When those catalogues came in the mail, our house was silent.
ReplyDeletethe new layout is great! when I opened your page I immediately let out a loud "whoa!"...good thing I'm reading blogs in my bedroom, right? :)
ReplyDeletePerfect outfit...love, love, love!
ReplyDeleteAnd I adore the new layout! Great job!!
I'm loving the new layout..it does seem very "you". :)
ReplyDeleteLove the new layout Mara! It's soo you:))! Beautiful outfit too:)! Love the skirt!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could make my ponytail look so effortless. If I attempted that it would probably just look...well, messy lol. But anyway, this is a great outfit! I'm not a huge fan of that colour green, but because you added the purple belt and the feminine ballet flats I think it really adds to it. Lovely :)

Your J.crew story is rather sweet. I can relate too where everyone I knew was into those typical teen brands. The look looks really great on you! Thanks for passing along the inspiration!

This outfit is darling! I love the idea of JCrew and I have plenty of their clothes in my closet but lately I have only been looking at their catalogs. The price has gone way up and sadly the things I've gotten in the last year haven't been as well made nearly as the things I have had for 6+ years. Where do you also shop for the JCrew look?
ReplyDeleteLOVE this outfit. I heart J.Crew so much. This outfit is one of my fav ever that you've posted.
