monochromatic: blue

February 6, 2013

I really love the color blue. It's a cool and relaxing tone and makes me feel anything but blue. I've collected quite a bit over the years, from blue jeans to blue dresses, so when I wanted to create a monochromatic look it was actually pretty easy. I love the statement a monochromatic palette creates but I wanted to subtly break it up with a patterned shirt and belt. It was so fun that now I'm tempted to create monochromatic looks in other colors!

Matthew and I are already having a blast in New York City. We flew in yesterday afternoon, went to Shake Shack {omg shroom burger was incredible, as was the black and white milkshake!}, and then met my uncles and cousin for a Portuguese dinner. Today I'll be at IFB Con. Can't wait to see some blogger friends and hear the interesting panels!

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone! If you have any NYC recommendations feel free to leave them below! Hoping Matthew and I can grab some yummy lunches and dinners in between all the craziness!

  25. Mara, I love the all blue look. I'm a huge fan of the color blue, too... at least when it comes to my wardrobe. It's a funny thing, my favorite color is pink, but I really don't own any pink clothing. Go figure.

Hope you and Matthew are having a blast in NYC. I'm sure you are. :)

  29. Love it so much. =) Yesterday I wore a monochromatic mint look also! Necklace, top, and pants. It's so fun to wear different shades of the same color and combine them all to make a super cute outfit. I thought it made each piece stand out more and looked way cooler than just wearing plain old blue jeans and a mint top.

  35. I love wearing monochromatic outfits! I think that they add a nice spin on an otherwise normal outfit. Also, I love blue too. It's funny I claim that pink is my favorite color but my closet is made up of so many different shades of blue.

  37. This look is faaaaaaabulous!! I love absolutely everything about it. I vote YES for more monochromatic looks in EVERY color! ;-)

And I'm loving seeing more looks with pants! You had a hand in converting me to more of a dresses/skirts girl because you always look so wonderful & put together in them. But I'm loving that you're sticking with your goal to style more pants looks.

    Have fun in NYC!!

  38. I love the different shades of blue; it adds a subtle touch of class to the whole thing. I admit, I'm not much of a pants lady -- but this look here is nothing short of fabulous.

Also, you look ravishing in blue :)
