I really love the color blue. It's a cool and relaxing tone and makes me feel anything but blue. I've collected quite a bit over the years, from blue jeans to blue dresses, so when I wanted to create a monochromatic look it was actually pretty easy. I love the statement a monochromatic palette creates but I wanted to subtly break it up with a patterned shirt and belt. It was so fun that now I'm tempted to create monochromatic looks in other colors!

Matthew and I are already having a blast in New York City. We flew in yesterday afternoon, went to Shake Shack {omg shroom burger was incredible, as was the black and white milkshake!}, and then met my uncles and cousin for a Portuguese dinner. Today I'll be at IFB Con. Can't wait to see some blogger friends and hear the interesting panels!
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone! If you have any NYC recommendations feel free to leave them below! Hoping Matthew and I can grab some yummy lunches and dinners in between all the craziness!

This outfit is amazing! I love the monochrome. If you find yourself in the West Village you should try Westville West for lunch or dinner--they have the freshest vegetables and some great mac and cheese!
ReplyDeleteBlue is my absolute favorite color, and you look amazing. I hope that IFB Con is awesome and you enjoy it! xo, Maria

I like that you even did your nails in blue! I love blue as well, but my boyfriend's always complaining that I should wear other colors.

YES, girl! Loving this outfit.. there is a HUGE difference between being "matchy-matchy" and being monochromatic. And your skinny leopard belt is perfect!

Mara, I love the all blue look. I'm a huge fan of the color blue, too... at least when it comes to my wardrobe. It's a funny thing, my favorite color is pink, but I really don't own any pink clothing. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteHope you and Matthew are having a blast in NYC. I'm sure you are. :)

Mara, I love all the shades of blue in this outfit. That polka dot blouse is too cute, and those shoes!! *swoon* I also adore how you paired it with a leopard print belt. Great outfit! xo
ReplyDeleteI love all of your blue, and your makeup looks gorgeous here! And as for NY, if you can possibly get out to Brooklyn, you MUST go to Baked bakery. It will change your life.

Love it so much. =) Yesterday I wore a monochromatic mint look also! Necklace, top, and pants. It's so fun to wear different shades of the same color and combine them all to make a super cute outfit. I thought it made each piece stand out more and looked way cooler than just wearing plain old blue jeans and a mint top.

ReplyDeleteAmazing blues! Have fun in NYC :) I have no recommendations, but would love to hear yours by the end of the trip!
ReplyDeleteHope you have so much fun in NYC! For some TRULY amazing ramen, check out:

It's different from traditional Japanese ramen but SO SO GOOD. Hope you get a chance to check it out! :)
I love wearing monochromatic outfits! I think that they add a nice spin on an otherwise normal outfit. Also, I love blue too. It's funny I claim that pink is my favorite color but my closet is made up of so many different shades of blue.

You'll get to experience the snow :) they're saying we're going to get 6-10 inches here in NYC on Friday into Saturday!
ReplyDeleteThis look is faaaaaaabulous!! I love absolutely everything about it. I vote YES for more monochromatic looks in EVERY color! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm loving seeing more looks with pants! You had a hand in converting me to more of a dresses/skirts girl because you always look so wonderful & put together in them. But I'm loving that you're sticking with your goal to style more pants looks.
Have fun in NYC!!
I love the different shades of blue; it adds a subtle touch of class to the whole thing. I admit, I'm not much of a pants lady -- but this look here is nothing short of fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you look ravishing in blue :)
